The Municipality of Concordia and Penal Unit No. 3 (UP3) signed a collaboration and assistance agreement with the objective of developing joint activities that promote job training and social reintegration for the designated voluntary inmate collaborators.
The agreement contemplates the participation of penitentiary personnel in charge of the supervision, accompaniment, and security of the inmates during the development of the tasks. For its part, the municipality will provide the materials, tools, and insurance necessary to guarantee the proper development of the activities.
The signing took place with the presence of Mayor Francisco Azcué, the Secretary of Government Luciano Dell’Olio, and the director of Penal Unit No. 3, Prefect Jorge Damián Vera.
Azcué pointed out that “thanks to this agreement, the inmates of this unit will be able to work jointly with the municipality in the areas of Public Services, Urban Hygiene, and maintenance of public spaces. This instance is very important because it reinforces the actions we have been developing with the institutions of our city and also gives the inmates the possibility of acquiring training.”
For his part, the Director of Employment Juan Manuel Scarzello maintained that “this is mutual work with the Secretariat of Government of the Municipality and the Penal Unit, from where we promote these types of agreements that favor the social reintegration of those who are currently deprived of their liberty.”
SCOPE
Through this agreement, the inmates selected on a voluntary basis will participate in various community support tasks, coordinated by the Secretariat of Government. These activities not only provide a contribution to the daily work of the municipality, but also offer the participants a concrete opportunity for learning and acquiring skills for their future reintegration into society.
The Penitentiary Service will establish the selection modality for the voluntary inmate collaborators necessary for the development of the entrusted tasks, in accordance with the provisions of the laws and regulations applicable to the execution and progressiveness of the sentence.
The initiative reflects the joint commitment of both institutions to social inclusion, the promotion of work as a tool for transformation, and the generation of spaces for cooperation between public agencies.
