The city of Concordia was chosen as the venue for the XX Spatial Data Infrastructure Days of the Argentine Republic (IDERA), the most important meeting in the country regarding geospatial information. The event will take place on July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and will mark a milestone: for the first time, these sessions will be organized by a local government.
These sessions, which are held in conjunction with the Provincial Government and the support of the Federal Council of Investments, represent a strategic opportunity for Concordia, not only due to the economic impact implied by the arrival of visitors from all over the country and Latin America, but also for its contribution to positioning the city as a relevant actor in the agenda of innovation, territorial planning, and smart development.
The IDERA Days bring together leaders from the public, private, academic, and scientific spheres to exchange experiences, present developments, and debate on the management of geospatial information, a key input for planning and strategic decision-making in governments.
Under the motto “Data that connects territories, smart decisions that drive development,” this edition proposes to reflect on the evolution of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) towards more integrated models, which articulate information, actors, and territories at multiple jurisdictional levels.
On this occasion, furthermore, the event acquires an international dimension by being the venue for the II South American SDI Meeting, a space that will convene specialists from the region to share advances and experiences linked to the implementation of the strategic frameworks promoted by the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management.
For three days, Concordia will be a meeting point for the exchange of knowledge, the generation of networks, and the construction of tools that allow for the improvement of the quality of public policies, with a direct impact on the lives of citizens.
