This Wednesday, Mayor Francisco Azcué, together with Principal Commander Matías Andrés Pérez, participated in the commemorative ceremony for the 205th anniversary of the passing into immortality of General Don Martín Miguel de Güemes, which was held at the Squadron 4 “Concordia” of the National Gendarmerie.
“On this occasion, we are brought together by bronze and memory, the greatest guardian of the borders, an indisputable moral beacon. Güemes was the embodiment of unwavering patriotism in a time of profound uncertainty; his love for freedom, for the homeland, was absolute, placing the common good above any personal interest; his life speaks to us of a loyalty that stood every test,” stated Commander Pérez.
For his part, Mayor Azcué highlighted the figure of Güemes for being someone who did not hesitate “to give his life for the Homeland, thereby leaving a profound lesson and a legacy for all. It is a date that invites us to reflect from the place that corresponds to each one of us.”
Present were the Secretary of Human Development Carlos Gatto; the Secretary of Public Services Oscar Ramírez; the Undersecretary of Social Development Roberto Niez; council members; authorities of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, Malvinas Veterans, and schools No. 17 “Martín Miguel de Güemes” and Nina School No. 43 “Bernardino Rivadavia”.
