This Wednesday, the presentation was held for what will be the 7th round of the 2026 TCR South America championship in September in Concordia, a category created with the objective of developing a global platform for touring cars with controlled costs and unified regulations, which has expanded rapidly to national and regional championships in Europe, Asia, America, and Oceania.
Currently, the TCR regulation is present in more than 35 championships around the world, with more than a thousand cars built and homologated. It will be arriving in our city at the Autódromo Ciudad de Concordia during the weekend of September 13th.
During the launch, the mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the joint work between the public and private sectors that allows the arrival of this category to our city, “bringing multiple benefits for different sectors because it not only moves the sports sector but also the commercial, gastronomic, and tourism sectors.” This event comes “to consolidate Concordia within the motorsport circuit, not only nationally but also internationally, therefore it is positive for everyone,” he remarked.
For his part, the Secretary of Government Luciano Dell´Olio thanked the work of all the areas of the Municipality that, together with the authorities of the Autódromo, “have managed to confirm this date so far in advance, so we are looking forward to the arrival of the TCR with great expectations.”
The Undersecretary of Tourism and president of EMCONTUR, María Belén Schauvinhold, stated that the event “will position Concordia internationally as a tourist destination, impacting the city's economic engine, moving the hotel industry, services, restaurants, and other related activities.”
Luciano Sendros, vice president of the Parque Autódromo Ciudad de Concordia, reported that the TCR was in Interlagos, Brazil, in April, “which most motorsport fans know what it means, and before Concordia, they will be in Termas del Río Hondo and other racetracks of international projection, which is why its arrival in our city is something that makes us proud.”
Finally, the general director of TCR South America, Federico Punteri, announced that “you will encounter an international-level category, with cars made in Europe by the same factories such as Honda or Audi, with a lot of technological development and a very interesting level of driving and pilots. You will have a weekend full of motorsport in Concordia.”
