The Deliberative Council of Concordia carried out its 27th Ordinary Session this Thursday, presided over by the vice mayor Magdalena Reta de Urquiza. The day was centered on the approval of a crucial Ordinance that eradicates the breeding of livestock animals (sheep, cattle, poultry, etc.) in the urban area, with the objective of controlling zoonotic diseases. In addition, it was declared of Municipal Interest important social and cultural activities, and the body expressed an energetic repudiation of the aggression suffered by councilman Felipe Sastre.
Sanitary Ordinance: End to the breeding of livestock animals in the Center
The session this Thursday, which counted on the presence of eleven council members, was marked by the approval of a Draft Ordinance long debated, which seeks to "bring a little order" to urban coexistence and public health.
The vice mayor Reta de Urquiza highlighted that the new regulation explicitly eradicates the keeping and/or breeding of livestock animals throughout the urban area of the municipal district. The restriction covers species such as sheep, cattle, goats and poultry, and has a clear sanitary purpose.
"The measure has the purpose of preventing zoonotic diseases that are transmissible to humans", explained Reta de Urquiza, underlining that the decision transcends urban organization.
Breeding activity will be permitted exclusively in the suburban area, but will remain subject to the requirements of the pre-existing ordinance "Concordia Sana"(approved in the year 2024). This regulation mandates that all livestock animals have the "adequate sanitary treatment", including vaccination plans and care to guarantee animal welfare and the safety of the population.
During the session, entry was given to 21 administrative case files and the request for entry of an administrative case file from the Justicialista bloc was approved, requesting the modification of the Tax Ordinance in chapter II, referring to the Commercial municipal tax.
In addition, the Council approved several Resolution Projects of General Interest, among which are:
The legislative session opened with a space for condemnation and solidarity following the aggression suffered by the councilman Felipe Sastre (Juntos por Entre Ríos) during a protest at the Convention Center this Wednesday.
Councilwoman Celeste Fuscado "energetically" condemned the event, labeling it "undemocratic". "Everyone can protest because it is their right, but without violence or aggression", she maintained, a message joined by the President of the Council, Reta de Urquiza.
Satalía Mendez, from the Justicialista bloc, expressed solidarity and stated: "The PJ bloc manifests itself against any act of violence, whether against councilman Sastre or any other person, we do not share, nor do I share, the aggressions".
For his part, councilman Felipe Sastre thanked the support and emphasized that what happened "was not a protest, it was an act of violence". Sastre identified members of a Kirchnerist list and the local teachers' union among the aggressor group, concluding: "We accept differences, but they cannot be settled with this type of behavior, I regret it".
Finally, Reta de Urquiza celebrated the presence of the students who are part of the Youth Council Program. The young people have already presented their projects and are in the evaluation stage, an instance that the vice-mayor valued as crucial to foster civic participation and the approach of new generations to legislative work.
