The new terminal will allow commercial, medical, and emergency flights, strengthening connectivity and productive development in the Salto Grande region. A strategic project that boosts employment, investment, and tourism for the region.
As planned and within the announced deadlines, this Monday, September 15, the Concordia Comodoro J. J. Pierrestegui Airport officially begins its activity, being authorized by the ANAC for civil, medical, military, and emergency aviation flights.
The achievement is the result of the effort of the Air Commercial Development Entity of the Concordia Airport (E.D.A.A.C.), responsible for the administration of the terminal, together with the Municipality of Concordia, the airport community already established in Concordia (SMN, ANAC, EANA, PSA, ORSNA, and Firefighters); with the permanent support of the Government of Entre Ríos through the Provincial Executing Unit.
The opening of the renovated terminal marks the beginning of a new stage for the city's connectivity and the tourism and productive development of the Salto Grande region, boosting the arrival of investments, job creation, and the expansion of services.
The president of E.D.A.A.C. and Secretary of Productive Development, Federico Schattenhofer, highlighted: “This airport is a key piece of Francisco Azcué's management legacy, which involves laying the foundations for a great change in production and in the productive paradigm of Concordia. Today we take a concrete step to improve connectivity, optimize logistics, and strengthen the competitiveness of companies, attracting investments and generating genuine work.”
For his part, the mayor Francisco Azcué highlighted the strategic importance of the project and thanked the Province for its support: “The authorization of the airport is not just an infrastructure project, but a political decision that places Concordia on the map of cities with the greatest projection. I want to recognize the commitment of Governor Rogelio Frigerio and the Provincial Executing Unit, who were present at every stage. I also want to highlight the central role of the Municipality, which articulated efforts to make this possible.”
Azcué also underlined the regional dimension of the project: “This airport belongs to everyone. If we work together —mayors, provincial government, and the private sector— we will be able to capitalize on this infrastructure to boost tourism, commerce, and other important activities for the growth of the Litoral region. From politics, we must be facilitators: the true protagonists are the entrepreneurs and business owners who drive the local economy.”
A PROJECT THAT MARKS A BEFORE AND AFTER
The “Design, Construction, and Renovation of the Comodoro Juan José Pierrestegui Airport” project was executed within the framework of the Development and Integration Program of the Salto Grande Region, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Among the main improvements, the following stand out:
• New 1,850 m² passenger terminal with parking for cars and buses.
• Commercial apron prepared for large aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800 or Airbus A320.
• Modern control tower, runway extended to 2,000 meters, and a 130 x 80 meter apron for three simultaneous design aircraft.
• New lighting system
• New JET and AVGAS fuel plant
• New buildings for national agencies: SMN, ANAC, EANA, PSA, ORSNA, and Firefighters (SEI).
Its strategic location, a few kilometers from the Concordia-Salto Border Center and the RN14, makes the terminal a fast and direct access point to cities such as Salto (ROU), Colón, Federación, and Chajarí, strengthening regional integration.
With this project, Concordia positions itself as an attractive city to invest, work, and live in, consolidating a development model that combines modern infrastructure, diversified production, and a shared vision of the future between the State, the private sector, and the community.
