Concordia is one of the 300 cities in the world chosen to be part of this international initiative promoted by Bloomberg Philanthropies. Projects may receive grants of between 1,000 and 5,000 dollars.
The Municipality of Concordia has opened the call for the Concordia Youth Climate Action Fund 2026, an international initiative promoted by Bloomberg Philanthropies together with United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), which will fund environmental projects designed and led by young people in the city.
The call will remain open from July 7 to August 4, 2026, and will award non-reimbursable grants of between 1,000 and 5,000 US dollars for initiatives that promote climate action, innovation, and youth participation.
"Being part of this international program is a recognition of the path that Concordia has been taking in terms of sustainability and an opportunity for our young people to be protagonists of the transformations that the city needs. We want their ideas to become concrete projects, with real impact on the environment and the community. That is why we invite all organizations and youth to participate in this call, which places resources, support, and trust in local talent," highlighted the mayor Francisco Azcué.
The call is aimed at non-profit organizations with a presence in the city that present projects led by young people between 15 and 24 years old. Each initiative must be designed and executed by teams made up of at least three young people and have the support of a sponsoring or applicant organization.
Civil associations, foundations, school cooperatives, social and sports clubs, universities, and other community institutions may participate. Each organization may submit up to three projects.
Proposals must be aligned with the Concordia Local Climate Action Plan 2021-2030 and include instances of environmental education and awareness that allow for expanding the impact of the initiatives in the community.
Projects may be registered in one of the following thematic areas:
• Renewable energy and energy efficiency.
• Education for climate action.
• Biodiversity, green infrastructure, and climate change adaptation.
• Sustainable waste management and circular economy.
As part of the selection process, the projects that are admitted will participate in mentoring and technical strengthening sessions before their final evaluation. In addition, one of the winning projects will be chosen through an open, virtual, and participatory youth vote, in which young people between 15 and 24 years old will be able to vote.
The winning projects will be announced on August 28 of this year, while the execution of the initiatives will begin in September and will extend until March 2027.
Inquiries can be made via email jovenesyaccionclimaconcordia@ gmail.com or in person at the Undersecretariat of Environment, located at Salta and Avenida Néstor Kirchner, from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
