The Municipality of Concordia, with its own funds and within the framework of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, is carrying out hydraulic works for 600 million pesos in different neighborhoods of the city, which play a fundamental role during days of intense rainfall or severe weather phenomena, allowing for better and greater water runoff.
On Salto Uruguayo street, reconstruction work on the canal is being executed, which once completed will allow for an increase in water conduction capacity and optimize the functioning of the storm drainage system in a large urban sector.
In addition, in the Parque Río Uruguay and El Arenal neighborhoods, the storm piping works and the construction of curbs and gutters continue, aimed at improving drainage, organizing neighborhood infrastructure, and providing a better quality of life for the residents.
On the other hand, the works plan also contemplates the cleaning and maintenance of canals, main culverts, and strategic storm drains. In this context, interventions were carried out on the Defensa Sur canal, a main conduit that discharges into the reservoir of the same sector, with the objective of guaranteeing its maximum performance. Likewise, in the Agua Patito and San Pantaleón neighborhoods, canal cleaning work was executed using machinery and personnel from the Secretariat of Public Works, optimizing municipal resources without generating additional costs.
The mayor Francisco Azcué, together with the Secretary of Public Works Fernando Esquibel, supervised the progress of the works, highlighting that “the investment being made is important, but the results obtained are more important because they are fundamental to improve the city's drainage capacity and avoid problems that occur every time intense rains are recorded”.
In this sense, he stated that “these actions are part of a comprehensive plan to address historical needs of different sectors of Concordia. Investing in infrastructure allows for the organization of neighborhoods and ensures that street repairs last, with the objective of improving the city and the quality of life of the people of Concordia”.
For his part, Esquibel explained that the works are part of a strategic intervention that benefits a large sector of the city: “We are working on the cleaning, regularization, and systematization of all hydraulic works so that the drainage functions at its maximum capacity and the resident can suffer the least possible damage in the face of weather events”.
