The Municipality of Concordia, in a joint effort between different areas, continues with the program of works contemplated in the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial.
This Friday, the work was concentrated in the northwest area of the city, on Virgen de Fátima and Nogueira streets, where the Undersecretariat of Road Works Maintenance, through the Directorates of Unpaved Streets and Paved Streets, together with the Decentralized Entity of Sanitary Works (EDOS), carried out the installation of storm drains and ditch cleaning.
The lack of foresight and investment that the place suffered for years caused flooding, interrupted traffic flow, and prevented water drainage during rainy days.
The mayor Francisco Azcué, together with Bruno Gaztambide, Undersecretary of Road Works Maintenance, toured the site where he highlighted that there is a lot of heavy traffic on that artery because it is a forestry and industrial development sector: “many trucks with gravel and wood for the sawmills travel through here daily. It is a street that was in terrible condition, which presented problems permanently since it is a wetland area, where sewer water also flows and there was no maintenance”.
The decision was to provide a fundamental solution “because doing it in a precarious way is useless, they break immediately and it ends up being more expensive for the Municipality. Both here and in different parts of the city, we are carrying out these works that are a priority, which are pointed out to us by the residents and are within the Infrastructure and Development Plan”, highlighted Azcué.
