As part of stage I of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, paving work began on Moulins Street, between Yuquerí Boulevard and Vera Peñaloza Street, in the Sarmiento neighborhood, thereby improving access to educational institutions, health centers, training and sports spaces, in addition to improving the quality of life of the residents.
The work, as in each of the sectors being intervened, included the complete replacement and modernization of the drinking water and sewage networks and the construction of curbs and gutters to optimize surface rainwater drainage.
“This is a long-awaited project, which we had discussed with the residents themselves, because it connects schools, access to health, the practice of sports activities at the Víctor Oppel Sports Center, or training through the Productive Hub,” stated the mayor Francisco Azcué.
After highlighting the comprehensive sanitation works that were carried out prior to the paving, Azcué remarked that “each step is analyzed, samples are taken, because we want the work to be done and to be done well, to last. We are very satisfied to see how the works are progressing in different sectors of Concordia with the Infrastructure Plan that we are going to continue with more resources.”
Finally, the mayor maintained that during the tours of the works “we take the opportunity to continue talking with the residents and from those conversations, new things arise for the neighborhood that we then work on from the Municipality.”
RESULTS OF AN ORDERED ADMINISTRATION
For his part, the Secretary of Cabinet Coordination and Treasury Pablo Ferreyra, highlighted that “here you can see the results of when one governs by managing public resources with transparency and honesty, taking care of taxpayers and doing so professionally, with work teams that assume responsibilities with the goal of obtaining results.”
If we talk about priorities, “the main one is to improve the quality of life of the residents and that was, is, and will be the goal of the administration: to take care of resources and manage them responsibly and in an orderly manner. We are carrying out a 2026 with the largest investment in public works with our own resources, lowering the tax burden, simplifying procedures and facilitating administrative aspects for those who bet, invest, and generate employment in the city, and we project a 2027 with double the resources allocated to works.”
The Undersecretary of Public Works Mateo Sastre indicated that with the paving of Moulins Street and the works in Villa Adela “we are reaching the end of stage I of the Infrastructure Plan. In this way, when these sectors are finished, we would be concluding the paving of the first 37 blocks, to which we must add the other stages of the PID, which in total represent more than 100 new paved blocks in the city.”
