This Saturday, organized by the Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Sports, the “2026 Social Soccer World Cup” began, a children's soccer tournament that brings together 500 children from different neighborhoods of the city in a proposal that promotes inclusion, sports, and community gathering.
The competition, which began at the “Ciudad de Concordia” Stadium, is part of the “Social Sports Network” and “Neighborhood Sports Leaders” programs, promoted by the Municipality with the aim of strengthening access to sports in every corner of the city.
Mayor Francisco Azcué remarked that the tournament “is part of the social policies we are carrying out, with the aim of promoting physical activity, inclusion, and sports in the neighborhoods. We began with training for the sports leaders, who are nothing more than residents of the city who decided to commit themselves to the children, and today we are here with the Mundialito.”
“We know that for the children, with the subject of the Soccer World Cup, they experience it in a different way, wearing the Argentine jersey and enjoying the recreational day together with their families,” emphasized Azcué, who also thanked the work of the different areas of the Municipality that collaborate in the realization of the event.
Undersecretary of Sports Ivana Pérez, for her part, maintained that “it is very gratifying to see all the children with the enthusiasm and desire with which they participate. For us as an administration, it is very important, and the goal of all this is not competition but to generate stimuli in them so that they continue practicing sports, in this case soccer, as in any other discipline. We are very happy.”
The tournament has the participation of teams belonging to different neighborhood sports centers, made up of children in the categories between the years 2014 and 2020 and will take place over four dates.
In this way, the municipality continues to strengthen public policies that promote equal opportunities, the integral development of childhood, and access to sports as a tool for social inclusion, within the framework of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial.
