Within the framework of a new stage of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, which includes the paving of 34 blocks in different sectors of the northeast area of the city, complementary works have begun on 6 de Caballería street, in the section between Avenida San Lorenzo and Chabrillón.
The works include the renovation of water and sewage networks and storm drains. This intervention is fundamental as it ensures durability by avoiding breaking the new asphalt, optimizing service pressure, and preventing subsidence or early leaks.
The mayor Francisco Azcué indicated that with these works, a new stage of the Infrastructure and Development Plan has been launched “which includes this sector but also other streets in different parts of the city and which are executed with own resources. The first step is to ensure that everything that remains under the pavement is in good condition, thus avoiding having to break it because there is a water leak or a sewer is not functioning correctly”.
In that sense, he assured that “this can be achieved through an orderly management of resources. This year in public works we have allocated a very important budget that translates into interventions that residents often demand from us. Our goal is to continue growing with more works and provide better services to the people of Concordia”.
For his part, the Undersecretary of Public Works Mateo Sastre explained that the tasks currently being carried out are part of the process prior to paving: “on 6 de Caballería and San Lorenzo we started the second stage of paving which includes a total of about 34 blocks. What is being developed now are preliminary works done for the paving, they are base and sanitation works, to subsequently carry out the asphalting”.
ABOUT THE WORKS
The works contemplate the renovation of basic infrastructure networks, including the replacement of drinking water pipes and the sewage collection network, with their corresponding household connections. In addition, the installation of new sectioning valves and hydrants is planned to improve the system's operability.
At the same time, the interventions include the systematization of storm drains through the placement of reinforced concrete pipes, collection and inspection chambers, and headwalls. In certain sectors, the replacement of collection chambers and the enclosure of open-air channels are also contemplated, with the aim of favoring the runoff of water surpluses, reducing flooding risks, and improving safety conditions for pedestrians and vehicles.
Once the sanitation tasks are completed, a soil-cement base will be executed, using the existing soil on site. On this structure, the final paving will subsequently be carried out, which contemplates a hot asphalt layer, in addition to the reconstruction and construction of curbs and gutters where necessary.
This stage, in addition to the 6 de Caballería sector, between San Lorenzo and Chabrillón, contemplates the following arteries: San Juan Street between M. Arruabarrena street and Etchevehere street; Etchevehere Street between San Juan street and H. Yrigoyen street; Hipólito Yrigoyen Street between Etchevehere street and O´Connor street; O´Connor Street between Hipólito Yrigoyen street and Avda. Eva Perón; Belgrano Street between Avda. San Lorenzo and Salto Uruguayo street.
