This week, the “Manos a la Obra, Mujeres” course began, an initiative promoted by the Undersecretariat of Development and Entrepreneurship in coordination with the Undersecretariat of Social Development, which seeks to promote training in construction-related trades and strengthen the economic autonomy of women in Concordia.
The inaugural meeting was held at the Refugio Carretera La Cruz, where Mayor Francisco Azcué accompanied the participants along with the head of the Social Economy Department, Miguel Parra, the Director of Neighborhood Development, Architect Gustavo Barbisan, and Andrea Popelka from the Undersecretariat of Development and Entrepreneurship.
During the opening, Azcué highlighted the importance of these types of proposals within local public policies: “From the municipality, we support and promote all initiatives that generate real opportunities for training and work. This course not only provides technical tools, but also encourages the participation of women in this activity. That is the path we want to continue building in Concordia.”
For her part, Andrea Popelka, stated: “We are very happy with the great turnout and the enthusiasm generated around this course. It is the result of the joint work of different municipal areas, with the objective of strengthening inclusion and providing concrete opportunities for the personal and professional development of women.”
The course is taught by master builder Antonella Ragone, president of the Civil Association Manos a la Obra Mujeres, and includes theoretical and practical modules that will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., for two months. The practical sessions will be carried out in coordination with Architect Barbisan, allowing participants to acquire direct experience in the use of tools, materials, and basic construction techniques, with special emphasis on safety and teamwork.
Finally, the organization reported that, due to the high demand for registration, a new edition of the “Manos a la Obra, Mujeres” course will be announced soon.
