The Municipality of Concordia, through the Directorate of Bromatology, under the Secretariat of Government, provides a series of recommendations and preventive measures to avoid contracting a viral hantavirus infection.
Furthermore, and given the circulation through social networks of a message with alleged measures, it is denied that such information has been issued through official channels.
MODES OF TRANSMISSION
Regarding the modes of transmission, the following must be taken into account:
Inhalation of viral particles present in the urine, feces, or saliva of infected rodents (especially mice and rats); the contaminated particles disperse in the air and can be inhaled by people.
Direct contact with objects or surfaces contaminated with rodent secretions (tools, clothing, food, furniture, etc.) that act as indirect vehicles for the virus. A person can become infected by touching these contaminated surfaces and subsequently touching their nose, mouth, or eyes.
Bite from an infected rodent.
Transmission between people through close contact.
PREVENTION
The preventive measures to be taken into account are as follows:
Sanitize containers after purchasing food.
Reduce contact with infected rodents and their secretions.
Keep homes and warehouses protected by sealing holes and potential entry points for rodents.
Store food in resistant containers.
Use traps or pest control measures.
Exercise extreme caution when cleaning closed or poorly ventilated spaces, such as basements, barns, and sheds. It is advised to ventilate and disinfect these areas beforehand, avoid dry sweeping or vacuuming contaminated surfaces, and use appropriate protective equipment, such as masks.
For any questions or inquiries regarding the procedures, please contact the Directorate of Bromatology, located at 225 Roque Sáenz Peña Street; by phone at 345 429 1516, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., or via WhatsApp at 345 408 5487, 24 hours a day.
