The Municipality of Concordia has begun the 37-block paving plan that benefits the Villa Adela, Sarmiento/Víctor Oppel, Don Jorge, and Parque neighborhoods, within the framework of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, to be executed with its own resources. The investment amount exceeds 2.3 billion pesos.
The first section of the work is being carried out on La Pampa Street, between Presidente Illia and Lieberman streets. In this initial phase, the renewal of basic infrastructure networks will be carried out, such as the replacement of sewage and drinking water pipes, including household connections and the installation of new sluice valves for sectioning and hydrants.
Once the sanitation tasks are completed, work will proceed with the soil base before carrying out the asphalt paving. The work includes the reconstruction of curbs and gutters that are in poor condition, and the construction of curbs, gutters, and drainage dips in sectors that do not have this infrastructure.
Mayor Francisco Azcué was at the site, speaking with the residents: “Many tell us that they waited for decades for these improvements. After more than two years of organizing the municipality and managing resources responsibly, today we can carry out the most important infrastructure plan in the history of Concordia, with our own funds, and provide them with an answer.”
“This work is in addition to those already carried out on Dr. Sauré and Paula Albarracín streets and they come to form a circulation ring along arteries where there are educational establishments and urban transport lines pass, so the benefit is not only for the residents of this sector but for all citizens of Concordia,” remarked Azcué.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
The Secretary of Public Works, Fernando Esquibel, pointed out that the work on La Pampa Street represents an intervention long-awaited by the residents, which “is part of a strategic plan that seeks to provide Concordia with the infrastructure it needs for its development.”
Continuing in that line, Esquibel maintained that “we are working with responsibility and efficiency in the use of municipal resources to execute works that improve connectivity, circulation, and the quality of life of the residents, ensuring that each investment has a real and lasting impact on the city.”
The 37-block plan includes the paving of the following sectors: La Pampa Street, between Presidente Illia and Lieberman Street; JJ Valle Street, between La Pampa and Presbítero Odiard Street; Paula Albarracín de Sarmiento Street, between España and Mario Gatto streets; Moulins Street, between Yuquerí Boulevard and Maestra Peñaloza Street; Ecuador Street, between Virgen del Carmen and Avenida Unión streets; Avenida Unión, between Ecuador and Idelfonso Cuadrado streets; Idelfonso Cuadrado Street, between Avenida Unión and San Cayetano Street.
