Mayor Francisco Azcué presided over an expanded cabinet meeting in which he presented a detailed report on the current economic situation and outlined the measures being taken by the municipal administration in response to the decline in national tax revenue sharing.
During the meeting, the head of the municipality reviewed the main actions implemented so far to reduce and reorganize the structure of public spending with the objective of reallocating resources to the provision of essential services for the city and to face the payment of the following installments of the loan in dollars inherited from the previous administration. Since this administration took office, payments for said dollar debt have already been made for 1.65 billion pesos, and next August, a new payment of 650 million pesos must be met.
In addition, progress in terms of debureaucratization of the State and the reduction of the tax burden were shared with the officials, as part of a comprehensive strategy to support the private sector, promote investment, and generate genuine employment.
“We are making efficient and orderly use of resources, eliminating unnecessary expenses in each of the areas, knowing that what lies ahead will not be very different from what we are going through today,” affirmed Azcué.
Without departing from the three pillars of the administration —human development, productive development, and institutional order—, the mayor urged each of the officials to continue reviewing the functioning of their areas to contribute to these objectives.
“As we have been maintaining from the beginning, our administration came to bring order with planning, foresight, and anticipation of scenarios. The goal is clear: to put Concordia once and for all on the path of progress, and to become a beacon city in the region again, leading the main productive projects,” remarked Azcué.
The vice-mayor, secretaries, councilors, undersecretaries, directors, and heads of municipal areas participated in the meeting held at the Convention Center.
