Mayor Francisco Azcué toured the facilities of the new Municipal Paving Stone Plant, which required an investment of 130 million pesos, using own resources and within the framework of the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial carried out by the Municipality of Concordia.
With a daily production capacity of 2100 paving stones, it will allow for the execution of 1.5 blocks per month of articulated pavement, generating a significant cost saving for the Municipality of around 69%.
“This is an important investment that has been made, with funds from the Municipality, ranging from purchasing the machine to equipping the warehouses where all the curing is done,” stated Mayor Azcué, who maintained that together with the paving works that have been carried out and are in execution, “we provide answers and reach different neighborhoods of the city.”
In that same line, he indicated that the bidding process for the acquisition of the new, state-of-the-art asphalt plant is already advanced, which will have a production capacity of 60 tons per hour and will operate in the Industrial Park.
“We will continue to grow and invest more in infrastructure and services because we know that every paved block means an improvement in the quality of life of our residents,” concluded Azcué.
For his part, the Secretary of Public Works Fernando Esquibel explained that currently the paving stone plant has a production capacity of 2100 paving stones per day “which will allow us to pave one and a half blocks per month. We are not going to do it in just any sector or street, but rather prior work was done to determine in which sectors, neighborhoods, or blocks to do it.”
Finally, he pointed out that this plant “positions the Municipality of Concordia with a strong response to the demands of the residents, such as the passability of the streets. Having our own production, machinery, and municipal labor allows us to optimize resources to the maximum.”
THE PLANT
The new Municipal Paving Stone Plant is located in the Productive Pole, in the Sarmiento neighborhood. It manufactures Holland-type paving stones, 10x20x8 cm; it has a curing sector to set the production, from 3 to 4 weeks, until it reaches its optimal resistance.
Initial production reaches 10,500 paving stones per week and it is projected, by 2027, to increase it to pave 4 blocks per month. With own manufacturing, labor, and machinery, the Municipality saves 69% of resources. The initial investment in the plant is recovered by executing 9 blocks of articulated pavement.
With own and sustained production, the Municipality plans works in more neighborhoods without depending on market prices or external suppliers.
