Mayor Francisco Azcué led a meeting with representatives of the main private sector institutions, officials, and council members, in which it was agreed to form a permanent working group to reach a consensus and promote measures that favor investment, productive development, and the generation of genuine employment in Concordia.
During the meeting, the main axes on which this public-private articulation space will begin to work were defined: facilitating the opening of new businesses, incentivizing private investment, strengthening local commerce, reducing administrative bureaucracy, and simplifying municipal procedures.
Representatives from the Center of Commerce, Industry and Services of Concordia; the Professional Council of Economic Sciences of Entre Ríos; the Center of Self-service and Supermarkets of Concordia (CASCO); and the Hotel and Gastronomic Association of Concordia participated.
Azcué explained that the call aimed to share with the institutions a series of measures that the Municipality has been developing to implement in the short term, within the framework of the continuity of the tax reform initiated by the current administration.
"We want these proposals to be enriched and worked on together with the private sector. Our goal is to continue creating better conditions for those who invest, produce, and generate employment in the city. We believe in a State that dialogues, listens, and builds solutions together with those who bet on Concordia every day," the mayor stated.
In that sense, the Vice Mayor, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, mentioned the work that has been carried out from the Deliberative Council since the beginning of the administration in conjunction with the institutions on the tax reform and referred to two fiscal transparency projects that are being analyzed for their approval.
In the same vein, the Secretary of Cabinet Coordination and Treasury, Pablo Ferreyra, maintained that the administration seeks to deepen fiscal relief and administrative modernization policies to favor economic activity.
"We are carrying out this agenda in a context of the largest drop in tax co-participation in recent years and, even so, we are executing the most important public works plan in the history of Concordia with our own resources, thanks to efficient administration and expenditure optimization. The challenge is to consolidate a State that stops putting up obstacles and becomes a facilitator of development, taking as a reference successful experiences from other municipalities in the country," he pointed out.
For his part, the Director of Revenue, Fernando Marsicano, explained that one of the main objectives is to advance in a debureaucratization process that allows for significantly reducing the authorization times for commercial activities.
During the meeting, private institutions also brought up their main concerns and proposals. CASCO raised the need to strengthen controls to combat tax evasion and guarantee fair competition rules among businesses.
Meanwhile, the Center of Commerce, Industry and Services of Concordia and the Professional Council of Economic Sciences highlighted the importance of advancing in a reduction of the local tax burden, in line with the measures adopted by the national and provincial governments.
At the same time, the Hotel and Gastronomic Association valued the reforms implemented by the Municipality, considering that they represented a relief for a sector that is going through a stage of contraction in activity, with exceptions during some tourist weekends.
The representatives of the institutions agreed to highlight the importance of the Municipality generating these spaces for dialogue and participation to build public policies together with those who represent the different productive sectors of the city.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the working group through periodic meetings in which each institution will present concrete proposals to advance, jointly, on an agenda oriented to strengthening investment, competitiveness, and the economic development of Concordia.
