The Municipality of Concordia is executing the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial in 2026, with its own resources, which includes sanitation works, paving, and renovation of water and sewage networks in various neighborhoods of the city.
The investment amounts to approximately 20 billion pesos, which represents 20% of the annual budget. This includes the acquisition of a new municipal paving stone plant, which is already in production, and the new asphalt plant, which will operate in the Industrial Park.
Currently, the work is being carried out in two stages. The first includes the paving of 37 blocks: La Pampa Street, between Presidente Illia and Lieberman Street; JJ Valle Street, between La Pampa and Presbítero Odiard Street; Moulins Street, between Yuquerí Boulevard and Maestra Peñaloza Street; Ecuador Street, between Virgen del Carmen and Avenida Unión; Avenida Unión, between Ecuador and Idelfonso Cuadrado streets; Idelfonso Cuadrado Street, between Avenida Unión and San Cayetano Street.
In addition, a second stage has begun, comprising 34 blocks: 6 de Caballería Street, between San Lorenzo and Chabrillón; San Juan Street between M. Arruabarrena and Etchevehere streets; Etchevehere Street between San Juan and H. Yrigoyen streets; Hipólito Yrigoyen Street between Etchevehere and O´Connor streets; O´Connor Street between Hipólito Yrigoyen and Avda. Eva Perón; Belgrano Street between Avda. San Lorenzo and Salto Uruguayo Street.
The repaving work on Ricardo Rojas Street between Concejal Veiga and Diamante is also being executed.
MAINTENANCE OF RAINWATER DRAINS
Prior to paving, in addition to replacing water and sewage valves and networks, the Operational Unit for the Maintenance of the Southern Defense, under the Secretariat of Public Works, carries out cleaning and obstruction removal work on rainwater drains.
The objective is that once the work is completed, the operation will be correct and allow for the normal and rapid drainage of water on days of heavy rainfall.
PLANNING
Mayor Francisco Azcué toured the work being carried out on La Pampa Street, which consists of soil preparation prior to paving: “this is part of a plan that seeks to execute comprehensive works before paving, which allows us to guarantee the durability of the work”.
“It took us two and a half years to create the conditions and develop this infrastructure plan that we are deploying in the city. Today we have the resources to do it since we are allocating 20% of this year's budget,” Azcué remarked, adding that “we are going to maintain the pace of investment in infrastructure, addressing the main demands of the residents”.
COMPREHENSIVE WORKS
Secretary of Public Works Fernando Esquibel, for his part, explained that “the pavement is the last thing seen in an intervention like this because previously, the replacement of water and sewage network pipes, valve replacement, and adequate soil preparation were carried out, which guarantees us asphalt with superior technical durability”.
In this regard, he also highlighted the cleaning of rainwater drains: “the maintenance of the catchments, once the asphalt is finished, allows the water to be channeled where it should go and everything to work correctly”.
