The Municipality of Concordia, through the Infrastructure and Development Plan towards the Bicentennial, is carrying out enhancement works in various public spaces of the city.
One of them is Zorraquín square, in the Lezca neighborhood, where interventions are being carried out with the aim of revaluing the place through design, art, and participation, contemplating the restoration of the central monument, modern furniture, warm lighting, and native vegetation; artistic interventions, mosaic work, and inclusive games with a soft play area.
Mayor Francisco Azcué and the Secretary of Public Works, Fernando Esquibel, were touring the work being executed with the Municipality's own funds, where it was highlighted that “there are several and diverse works being carried out: a playground area for children with a special floor, flower beds, benches, ramps to improve accessibility, or the central fountain that was abandoned and had not been working for a long time”.
“Some issues are aesthetic and others are more related to infrastructure, such as the storm drains that were not in good condition and did not allow for normal water drainage on rainy days. When the works are finished, it will be a space that can be enjoyed by all residents of Concordia,” stated Azcué.
For his part, Esquibel added that “a complete cleaning of the square is being carried out with painting work, repair of existing games in addition to the installation of new games, lighting, landscaping, and gardening. We worked on the enhancement with the residents, we listened to them, analyzed their concerns, and achieved a technical and architectural project of high value.”
