The Municipality of Concordia, through the Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism and the Department of Social Economy, continues to develop the family and community garden program with an agroecological approach on a large scale, within the framework of the 2025 autumn-winter campaign.
The main objective of the initiative is to promote the production of healthy food, strengthen the domestic economy, and encourage the participation of residents in sustainable and solidarity-based practices.
To date, the program has already reached residents of seven neighborhoods in the city and has delivered seasonal horticultural seedlings to more than 200 people, in addition to providing technical advice for the design and maintenance of gardens. It is estimated that the total reach of this campaign could benefit between 1,800 and 2,000 Concordia families, depending on the space available in each home and the availability of seedlings.
In the coming days, activities will continue in the Benito Legerén, Pampa Soler, San Pantaleón, Ex Aeroclub, Islas Malvinas, and Camba Paso neighborhoods, where municipal teams will provide support with training and materials to strengthen the creation of agroecological gardens in homes.
“The growth of the program demonstrates that there is a great vocation in our community to recover knowledge linked to the land and self-cultivation. This not only improves nutrition, but also connects us with nature and with our residents,” noted Miguel Parra, head of the Department of Social Economy.
For his part, the Director of Cooperativism and Associativism, Ariel Gorostegui, highlighted that “we are building a public policy with real impact, which arises from fieldwork and the commitment of the technical teams, but above all from the active response of the residents.”
Engineer Gabriel Zubizarreta, technical manager of the program, added: “We designed the training sessions in a simple and accessible way, so that anyone, with or without previous experience, can start their own garden. Technical support is key to ensuring short and medium-term results.”
For more information, interested persons can go to the Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism, located on the 1st floor of the Civic Center of Concordia (Mitre and Pellegrini), from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
