The Municipality of Concordia, through the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, carried out a CPR and first aid training for older adults, which was attended by more than 80 people at the “Plaza Sol” Retirees and Pensioners Center.
The activity was led by the Red Cross team and aimed to provide practical tools to act in emergency situations, strengthening prevention and care within the community.
During the day, Dr. Laura Sitzmann was present, along with the Head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal, and authorities from the “Plaza Sol” Retirees Center, who supported the initiative and highlighted the importance of creating these training spaces for older people.
In this regard, Gladys Portugal pointed out that “these types of training sessions are fundamental because they provide knowledge that can save lives. It is very valuable that our older adults can learn how to act in an emergency, whether in their homes or in community spaces.”
Likewise, she highlighted the high turnout for the activity: “It fills us with satisfaction to see the participation of more than 80 older adults committed to learning and collective care. From the Municipality, we continue to promote proposals that encourage autonomy, prevention, and active participation.”
Finally, Portugal especially thanked the Red Cross team for their support and professionalism in the development of the workshop, remarking that “their commitment and vocation for service make it possible for this knowledge to reach our community.”
