The Municipality of Concordia repudiates a series of acts of vandalism that have damaged public property, causing direct harm to the community as sectors that fulfill important functions are affected.
During the last few days, part of the wiring was stolen at the Sewage Pumping Station, located on the South Defense, where 200 million pesos were recently invested in the repair of power panels and pumps.
This place plays a fundamental role in protecting the city against intense rainfall or potential flooding of the Uruguay River, preventing waterlogging.
In addition, there was the theft of covers located on Vélez Sarsfield and Isthilart streets, which serve the function of covering the sectors where the posts of the floodgates belonging to the South Defense are installed, whose function is also to prevent water from entering populated areas when the Uruguay River rises.
Since the municipal administration, investments and preventive, repair, and cleaning work have been carried out in different sectors of the city with the aim of mitigating the impact on the community in the face of possible intense weather phenomena, which is why it regrets this type of action that only causes damage and higher expenditures of public resources.
Therefore, it is requested to take care of the spaces and assets, which belong to all residents of Concordia, and in case of detecting situations of vandalism, notify the Police of Entre Ríos, through the toll-free number 101, of the Radioelectric Command.
