The Municipality of Concordia, through the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, continues to promote proposals aimed at improving the quality of life for older adults, through activities that combine learning, recreation, and social integration.
In this framework, two initiatives will be developed: the “English for Travel” workshop and the “Alternative Games for Older Adults” program, both aimed at fostering active participation and well-being.
The English workshop will be led by Ester Bikkesbakker and will be held next Tuesday, April 7, from 08:30 to 09:30, in the Training Hall of the Municipal Civic Center (1st floor, Mitre and Pellegrini). The proposal seeks to provide basic language tools for everyday travel situations.
Registration is open until March 25 and spots are limited. For more information and registration, interested parties can call 3454 127484.
For its part, the “Alternative Games for Older Adults” program will begin on April 1, taking place every Wednesday from 09:00 to 11:00 at different retirement centers in the city, with the goal of promoting movement, integration, and well-being.
The schedule will be as follows:
• 1st week (April 1): “Stella Maris” Retirement Center
• 2nd week (April 8): “La Bianca” Retirement Center
• 3rd week (April 15): “Villa Zorraquín” Retirement Center
• 4th week (April 22): General meeting of retirement centers
The program will culminate with a final meeting at the Sports Field of the Costanera de Concordia, consolidating a space for exchange and participation among the different groups.
The Head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal, highlighted the importance of these initiatives: “We work to create spaces that support our older adults in their integral development, both educationally and recreationally. These proposals not only promote healthy habits, but also strengthen bonds and the sense of community.”
