The Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Education and Culture, invites the community to participate in “Un Canto para la Ciudad”, a cultural and community proposal that will take place on Friday, December 19th at 8:30 PM, at the intersection of Urquiza and 1º de Mayo, on the eve of Christmas.
It is a gathering that proposes to celebrate unity, family, and gratitude through music, dance, and art, creating a space of collective emotion where the most valuable aspect is sharing as a community. In this edition, the activity is also framed within the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Bell Tower of the San Antonio de Padua Cathedral, a historical and heritage symbol that is part of the city's identity.
The Undersecretary of Education and Culture, Prof. Carlos Gatto, highlighted that “this gathering seeks for the city to come together again through art, collective singing, and shared emotion. Christmas is a date that invites us to reconnect and value the community, and doing so through our local choirs and artists has a very deep meaning.” In this sense, he remarked that “the celebration of the Bell Tower's centenary also allows us to look at our history, recognize it, and bring it into the present as part of who we are as a community.”
The proposal will feature the participation of nine city choirs, including the Chamber Choir of the Municipality of Concordia, the Cantoría of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, the Centenario Choir, the Estable Choir of Concordia, the Renacer Choir of the Provincial Retirees and Pensioners Center, the Children and Youth Choir of the Sacred Heart, the Tahil Mapu Choir of the UNER, the Cantabile Choir, and the Amici Choir. The choirs will enter singing along the Pedestrian Street, from Urdinarrain Street to 1º de Mayo, advancing in unison to the meeting point, creating an open and participatory artistic experience for the entire community.
The event will also be accompanied by the Pavlovha Dance Academy, which will present a fragment of its renowned Christmas musical, and the “Alitas de mi Patria” Youth Folk Ballet, with their performance “Desde el Alma”, a folk nativity scene that highlights traditions, cultural identity, and family unity values.
One of the central moments of the night will be the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Bell Tower of the San Antonio de Padua Cathedral, which will include a special ringing of bells, a symbol that has historically accompanied the city in moments of gathering, celebration, and collective memory.
The day will conclude with a live show, designed to dance, enjoy, and share with the family, completing a night of celebration, culture, and community.
The Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Education and Culture, appreciates the support of the Cooperativa Eléctrica de Concordia, as well as the support of the gastronomic establishments Bar Ideal, El Ciervo, and Cristóbal Café, whose commitment makes the realization of this proposal open to the entire community possible.
“Un Canto para la Ciudad” invites you to experience Christmas through gathering, music, and shared identity, reaffirming the value of art as a bridge of unity for Concordia.
