Antígona Velez, a play by Leopoldo Marecal, an Argentine writer and playwright characterized by adapting world literature classics to our history. In this case, the theater group "La Bitácora" has, in turn, created a new version.
Antígona Velez takes place within the framework of the Conquest of the Desert or the genocide of thousands of native inhabitants, from La Pampa to Patagonia, back in the 1800s, when everyone from landowners to presidents tenaciously sought to acquire land to gain more power and dominion.
This play invites us to delve into the confrontation between two brothers, owners of a part of the territory, who clash over power and roots, with opposing views regarding their defense, and their older sister, Antígona Velez, who desperately seeks God's justice in the hands and hearts of petty and ambitious men. She longs for her past, her life with her brothers and father, her adolescent love, and her country life, surrounded by foals, lambs, and farm work.
Will her restless and righteous heart be able to make the desert and the cold south of Patagonia bloom with flowers sown by Love?
