Governor Rogelio Frigerio and the mayor of Concordia, Francisco Azcué, accompanied the start of activities for the TCR South América, which is taking place at the racetrack of the citrus capital. Both authorities valued the boost that motorsport generates for the tourism and productive development of the region.
The governor and the mayor, together with Senator Gloria Liliana Cozzi, were present at the Ciudad de Concordia racetrack park for the seventh round of the 2026 Bradesco TCR South América championship, a competition being held for the first time on this track. The authorities toured the 4,700-meter circuit and maintained contact with the teams from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay participating in the continental sporting event.
In this context, both leaders highlighted the importance of hosting international events in the Entre Ríos territory and the capacity of local infrastructure to generate activity in the service sector and stimulate the region's economy.
During the tour of the premises, Frigerio praised the province's automotive tradition and the attraction the competition exerts on local fans and those from neighboring countries. "We are very happy and have high expectations. We are a very car-enthusiast province, and we love receiving this international category here in Entre Ríos and in Concordia. The economy is also mobilized with each event of this nature; we are visited from many places, and the fact that we have the airport next door generates more movement, which is why the government is supporting this race," the provincial leader expressed.
In the same vein, Azcué remarked on the visibility that the South American category grants the municipality and the positioning of the city as a receptive destination for cultural, thermal, and productive tourism. "It puts us in a showcase for the whole world. This generates a lot of movement, tourism, and economic and productive activity; it is something that transcends sport. Those who come to the races get to know our thermal parks, the winery circuit, fishing, and the dam. We strive together with the governor and the entire team so that the experience in Concordia is the best and that they continue to choose us," the mayor maintained.
For his part, the president of TCR South América, Federico Punteri, highlighted the choice of the Entre Ríos location and the conditions that allowed the arrival of the continental category to the city for the first time. "For us, the decision to choose a circuit considers many aspects; it is not only the sporting part, but also the city, accessibility, hotels, and gastronomy, since it moves many foreigners. Entre Ríos, and particularly Concordia, in joint organization with Uruguay, brings all that together. The Brazilians and Uruguayans are very happy, and for us, it is gratifying because it is part of the category's success," the executive pointed out.
