The Health Secretariat's Forest Brigade recently participated in a workday at El Palmar National Park, after being specially invited by the representative of the Park's Fire Brigade, Juan Ballay. The purpose of the call was to strengthen coordination between agencies and share experiences regarding the prevention, detection, and combat of forest fires.
From the Municipality of Concordia, a team attended, composed of the head of the Concordia Forest Brigade, César Correa, along with national brigade members Tomás Ayala, Carlos Segovia, and Juan Cheruzzo. It is worth mentioning that this invitation was extended because our city is a pioneer in the creation of a brigade.
During the day, various topics were addressed, including the status of detection and early warning bases, operational coordination between institutions, the deployment request circuit, and issues related to municipal dumps, power lines, and the shoulders of the Artigas Highway. In addition, issues related to the prohibition of controlled burns, dissemination campaigns, and group communication during emergencies were discussed.
In this regard, the head of the Brigade, César Correa, highlighted that "this invitation was possible because we are a pioneering institution in the creation of a forest brigade. Thanks to these types of meetings, we strengthen the union between the different institutions and reinforce our commitment to environmental protection.”
Likewise, he pointed out that “for us, it is a true source of pride to be able to participate in these types of workshops, as it identifies us as an institution and reinforces our knowledge ahead of the upcoming summer season.”
Finally, Correa thanked the Health Secretariat for its support “for allowing us to be part of these actions, which allow us to continue working for the entire city of Concordia and nearby areas.”
