This morning, at the Hostal del Río Interpretation Center, the official launch of the 10th International Environment Fair was held, an activity organized by the Undersecretariat of Environment of the Municipality of Concordia, in conjunction with the NGO “Luz del Ibirá”, which will feature international participation, consolidating the city as a space for meeting, learning, and commitment to sustainable development.
The Fair, which will take place on June 4th and 5th, proposes to address the relationships that shape the environment in a multidisciplinary way where, likewise, it is intended to raise the question about the representations and actions of social actors with the environment through research, both school-based and from other actors in the public and private sectors, for the benefit of the environment.
It is a key event to share experiences, promote environmental policies, and strengthen joint work for the care of the environment.
The Director of Environmental Education, Constanza Montoreano, highlighted the possibility of holding a new edition that this year comes with novelties, since in addition to the activities that involve the participation of educational establishments, institutions, and organizations, she announced that on May 22nd a sustainable fashion show will be held at the Hostal facilities.
Participation will be extended to the merchants of Concordia, “so that they can be part of it, talk about the environment, and decorate their windows with environmental themes. We want everyone to join in,” affirmed Montoreano.
For her part, Romina Luna Tarabini, a member of the NGO “Luz del Ibirá”, stressed that it is a source of pride “to reach the tenth edition of the fair, which we have been sustaining over time. The event will be at the Convention Center, on June 4th and 5th. The expectations are enormous, with many delegations that will come from Paraguay and our godfather from Mexico, Omar Chávez Campos, is coming with a team from NASA.”
Finally, Environmental Educator Mariana Acosta, also belonging to the NGO “Luz del Ibirá”, commented that due to the work carried out in these years, the subject “is super inserted within all educational levels but we would like the community and companies to join more, to join for their social responsibility. Environmental education is not exclusive only to schools; we have to educate the entire community because the environmental crisis is due to the decisions that adults make, so and we would like them to also have environmental objectives to meet.”
The event was also attended by the Undersecretary of Environment of the Municipality of Concordia Joaquín Gobetto; the Secretary of Extension of the Faculty of Food Sciences, dependent on the Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos Romina Bacigalupo and the president of the NGO “Luz del Ibirá” Manuela Peralta; among others.
