"We are a few days away from starting the children's Carnival, very happy to be able to hold this important social and cultural event again, after the hiatus of last year due to the pandemic. With great effort, some small comparsas will not be able to be present this year, but there will be 10 children's comparsas that will provide a great show in the city's neighborhoods," noted Marcelo Cresto, Secretary of Sports and Education of the Municipality, during the ceremony in which supplies and items were delivered to the participating comparsas, through an agreement with CTM.
"This Friday it will begin on Avenida Carriego, in the Costanera, and we invite all families to enjoy the city's children's carnival," invited Cresto. The first parade will take place this Friday at 8:30 PM at Carriego and Lamadrid streets, in the Costanera.
"We are very grateful to mayor Alfredo Francolini, secretary Marcelo Cresto, and all the Municipality areas that are working tirelessly so that the Carnaval de los Pequeños Duendes can take place," expressed the event coordinator, the director of Events and Cultural Workshops, Sonia Albornos.
"For us, it is always a joy to be able to start this great celebration, in which the protagonists are the children from the different neighborhoods, who attend each parade accompanied by the leaders of their groups, their relatives, friends, and their fans, providing a show for the public that comes to watch them pass by," she added. And she referred to the importance that this initiative has had since its beginnings, "acting as a true nursery, producing figures who, after their participation in Los Pequeños Duendes, later stand out in the city's Carnival."
"This celebration was promoted by Juan Carlos Cresto and Laura Martínez Pass de Cresto, from the Conased Foundation. Since the first term of mayor Enrique Cresto, it has been a State policy of the municipality, and today with Alfredo Francolini we continue to move forward, holding this children's carnival that is unique in the country," highlighted Albornos.
The president of the Conased Foundation, Leticia Ponzinibbio, was present at the ceremony and thanked "Luis Benedetto from CTM for supporting the children's Carnival, all the areas of the Municipality that, with the decision of mayor Alfredo Francolini, participate: Public Works, Electrotechnics, Public Services, Urban Development, Culture, Sports, Social Development, the Government Secretariat, and everyone who makes this event possible."
In this sense, Ponzinibbio highlighted that "the Health area, through the ExtraMuros program, carries out check-ups and screenings for the children, because the Carnaval de los Pequeños Duendes has a purpose of inclusion and care for childhood," she valued.
After the inaugural parade, the following dates will be:
Sunday, February 6 - 8:30 PM - La Bianca
Friday, February 11 - 8:30 PM - Pompeya
Sunday, February 13 - 8:30 PM - Centenario
The closing will take place at the Corsodromo Atanasio Bonfiglio on Sunday, February 20 at 8:30 PM, and will have a charitable purpose. On this occasion, to enter, the public will be asked to donate school supplies.
