During this Thursday at noon, mayor Francisco Azcué renewed the agreement between the Municipality of Concordia and the Citrus Growers Association, through which joint work continues to prevent the establishment of HLB in the region.
Within the framework of this action, between the public and private sectors, control and monitoring strategies are being updated to prevent the entry of the disease that affects production and consequently can cause damage to one of the main productive sectors of the department.
“I can say with pride that thanks to the work of the Citrus Growers Association, the Municipality, and other organizations as well, in Concordia we are free of HLB but we must continue working, since it is an asset that we have to protect. Citriculture is one of our main activities, one of the productive matrices of Concordia, for which we have to continue investing, monitoring, and improving standards more and more to help the private sector, which is the engine of development and growth for our entire region,” affirmed Azcué.
The president of the Citrus Growers Association of Concordia, Orlando Malvasio, highlighted that Concordia and “this entire area is free of HLB thanks to the work we are carrying out in collaboration with the Municipality and the Province,” stressing that this is why monitoring must be “constant and continuous to try to keep it as far away as possible.”
Also participating in the signing were the Secretary of Productive Development Federico Schattenhofer and the secretary of the Citrus Growers Association, Melania Zorzi.
