The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia presented Mayor Enrique Cresto with a special recognition "for his fraternal service to the Bolivian community and his contribution to the construction of the Patria Grande." The award was presented in the city of Rosario, where the Bolivian Consulate is based. Councilwoman Julia Saenz participated in the ceremony and received the distinction on behalf of the Mayor from the hands of the Bolivian Consul in Argentina, Mr. Sixto Valdéz.
"The mayor worked hard against the exploitation of Bolivian workers in the blueberry harvest, while at the same time, in dialogue with the Consul, outlining possible future lines of work that allow for greater inclusion and labor integration for the community," highlighted the councilwoman, referring to the reasons that earned Cresto the recognition from the Bolivian government.
In this sense, the mayor thanked them for the distinction and pointed out that "it is a distinction for the entire city of Concordia, which has been forged by immigrants and is a land of opportunities."
In Concordia, the mayor continued, "we have many residents who are Bolivian or children of Bolivians; it is a large community. And in honor of those who founded this city, calling it Concordia, of unity and harmony between people, we will always work for respect, non-discrimination, and integration, even more so when it comes to brotherly peoples like the Bolivian one," he concluded.
