On Road Safety Day, the Secretary of Management Coordination of the Municipality, Fernando Barboza, and the Director of the Traffic Center launched the renewed road education and awareness campaign, primarily through social media, as well as the option to take the National Road Education Course online.
"Every day, traffic agents perform very important work. Mayor Alfredo Francolini and the entire management team value and highlight the work being done in road education and awareness actions, in operations, and in the regulation of traffic and circulation in the city," noted Barboza during a tour of the former Central Station, where the practical evaluation for driver's license applicants is carried out.
“We thank Mayor Alfredo Francolini and the Secretary of Management Coordination Fernando Barboza for their support of the actions to have better levels of road safety in the city every day. For this, training, awareness, and road education are important," noted the Director of the Traffic Center, Walter Baez, in this regard. "It is important to keep in mind that we all contribute to road order. The message is clear for the entire community, and responsibility is a fundamental point for everyone, from a pedestrian to a truck driver,” he indicated.
In this sense, Baez referred to the "road education projects that we carry out. This year, due to the pandemic and the prevention measures in place, we have not been able to attend schools to conduct the different workshops as we do every year. But we continue working on this issue, and we are carrying out greater dissemination and awareness campaigns through social media. Road safety is something that is built daily and must be permanently reinforced," he said in reference to the renewed campaign.
At the same time, he indicated that "today the Road Education Course, which is mandatory to obtain a Driver's License, can be taken directly online. By entering the Municipality's website, you will find the link to access the online course," or by following this URL http://curso.seguridadvial.gob.ar "The course has national validity and is the first of the requirements for those who are going to obtain a license. It can be done online, and this speeds up the procedure for the person," he highlighted.
Finally, the Secretary of Management Coordination Fernando Barboza also valued "the work that the Traffic personnel have carried out during all these months of Health Emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic, whether in operations on public roads or at the city's entrances, together with the different areas of the Municipality, the Police of Entre Ríos, and federal security forces."
Road Safety Day
This day is dedicated to promoting road education as a strategy to reduce traffic accidents, a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. This strategy includes knowledge of traffic rules and signs and the development of attitudes and practices for accident prevention. The chosen date is due to a curious event in national life: the "change of side." In Argentina, the rule that ordered the direction of traffic on the left side was in force, as in Great Britain. But on June 10, 1945, the direction of traffic on the right was decreed, as is the generalized norm in most countries.
