During this Thursday morning, Mayor Francisco Azcué participated in the opening of the 10th International Environment Fair “Eco Ciencias”, organized by the Municipality of Concordia through the Undersecretariat of Environment, the Faculty of Food Sciences of the National University of Entre Ríos (UNER), and the NGO Luz del Ibirá.
The meeting brings together national and international delegations, specialist exhibitions, more than 80 environmental projects, educational activities, robotics workshops, wild food sessions, cultural proposals, and artistic performances.
In his welcoming remarks, Azcué highlighted that “this is the virtuous circle that we must foster with intermediate institutions, which work and get involved with great responsibility, in this case regarding the environment. This is what we propose and promote from our administration: citizen participation and commitment.”
“When institutions get involved, the State provides support; that is why it is important to give continuity to this type of activity, which has already been running for ten years,” stated Azcué, while noting that “the most powerful tool we can turn to is education, and today we see many educational institutions, from different levels and countries, that are being part of the same space and with the same objective.”
Manuela Peralta, president of the NGO Luz del Iberá, stated that “what we intend as the objective of this fair is that what we are experiencing now is the future, and the future must be made sustainable,” also thanking the participation of the different areas, organizations, and institutions that worked for this new edition.
For her part, the vice-dean of the Faculty of Food Sciences (UNER), Mariana Lagadari, stated that “10 years is not a minor detail. It is about sustained work that has made this space a reference meeting for everything related to the environment and climate change.”
The activities continue at the Convention Center throughout the day on Thursday and Friday, with talks, presentations, and stands. It is open and free to the general public.
