Mayor Francisco Azcué, together with the Chief of the 6th Tank Cavalry Regiment 'Blandengues', Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Andrés Camarino, led this Saturday the central ceremony for Flag Day and the 206th anniversary of the passing into immortality of General Manuel Belgrano.
On this occasion, 4th-grade students from schools No. 90 “Principito”; No. 193 “San Roque González de Santa Cruz”; No. 50 “Solidaridad y Esperanza”; No. 32 “Nuestra Señora del Silencio”; No. 6 “General San Martín”; No. 18 “El Aconcagua”; No. 57 “Belgrano”; No. 69 “Malvinas Argentinas” and No. 72 “Trabajador Comunitario” took the pledge of loyalty to the flag, while soldiers of the Regiment took the oath, accompanied by soldiers from the 1952 and 1961 classes of the Argentine Army.
In his speech, Mayor Azcué defined Manuel Belgrano as “one of the most extraordinary men in Argentine history,” noting that “every June 20th we remember his passing into immortality, but we also pause to reflect on the deep meaning of that symbol that represents us all, without distinction.”
“The flag is the expression of a shared destiny, it is the memory of those who fought for freedom, the effort of generations that built this Nation, and the hope of those who continue to believe in a better future,” remarked Azcué, highlighting that “it was born as a symbol capable of uniting wills, of awakening collective commitment, and of reminding us that there are causes that stand above differences.”
In that sense, Azcué maintained that “Belgrano was much more than the creator of the flag. He was a man who renounced the privileges of his time to place himself at the service of a greater cause, who never sought personal benefits and always placed the common interest above any personal ambition.”
“THE ARGENTINA THAT BELGRANO DREAMED OF”
On this date, “looking at this formation of men and women of our Armed Forces and Security Forces; seeing our teachers; seeing our students promising loyalty to the flag; seeing the families accompanying this very significant moment, we find a powerful image of that Argentina that Belgrano dreamed of, where each sector fulfills a mission, where each generation transmits values to the next, where commitment, effort, and responsibility continue to be fundamental pillars for the development of our beloved city.”
Finally, the mayor recalled that our city is close to turning 200 years old, a time during which history was built “by generations of men and women who made this city a land of opportunities, work, and encounter. We know that societies progress when they manage to build lasting agreements on the future they desire. That is the commitment we have assumed from this administration.”
“We are promoting a transformation process that seeks to lay solid foundations for the coming years. A process that requires effort, responsibility, and often difficult decisions. We know that no true change happens overnight. We know that the challenges are significant, but we are willing to give everything for our Homeland and our city. Today, let us renew our commitment to our beloved Concordia so that it may once again be a land of progress and opportunities.”
“YES, I PROMISE”
As established by the Government of Entre Ríos, the pledge of loyalty to the Argentine Flag by 4th-grade students was administered by the president of the Malvinas War Veterans Center of Concordia, Rodolfo Oscar Razzeto.
This proposal aims to pay tribute to those who defended sovereignty with honor and courage, as well as to strengthen in students the sense of belonging, commitment, and respect towards patriotic symbols and the values they represent.
Present were officials of the Municipal Cabinet; council members; members of the Armed Forces and Security Forces; Malvinas Veterans; representatives of intermediate institutions; the Departmental Directorate, and the general public.
