The Municipality of Concordia, through the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, continues to promote proposals that favor the well-being, integration, and active aging of older adults. In this context, registration is now open for various non-fee-based activities that will take place in different spaces throughout the city.
Among the proposals is the Cognitive Stimulation Workshop, coordinated by Psychopedagogue Laura Gallardo, a space designed to exercise memory, attention, language, and other cognitive functions through recreational activities that contribute to keeping the mind active.
The workshop is held at two locations:
Every Monday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Railway Retirees Center (La Rioja 440).
Every Tuesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Concordia Association of National Retirees and Pensioners (Andrade 300).
Registration is carried out in person at the offices of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies.
Another proposal is Hydrotherapy for Older Adults, an activity organized jointly by the Department of Senior Citizen Policies and the Disability Directorate of the Municipality of Concordia. The initiative is aimed at improving mobility, strengthening physical well-being, and promoting a better quality of life through exercises performed in water.
Classes will begin on Wednesday, August 5th, and will take place every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at PROMAR (25 de Mayo 928). Inquiries and registration are received on the first floor of the Concordia Civic Center (Mitre and Pellegrini), from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
On the other hand, the Pepona Doll Making Workshop will also be held, led by Noelia Gómez, a proposal that promotes creativity, fine motor skills, and socialization through the artisanal creation of dolls, with limited spots available.
This workshop will take place on Thursday, July 30th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on the first floor of the Civic Center (Mitre and Pellegrini). Registration can be done via WhatsApp at 345 412 7484 or in person at the offices of the Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism.
In this regard, the Head of the Department of Senior Citizen Policies, Gladys Portugal, highlighted that “from the Municipality, we work to offer spaces that allow older adults to remain active, share experiences, and strengthen their autonomy. Each activity is designed to favor physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being, promoting active participation in the community.”
Likewise, Portugal invited residents to join the proposals and expressed that “we want more and more older adults to know about these opportunities and feel encouraged to participate. These are non-fee-based activities, open to the community and designed to improve quality of life, build bonds, and enjoy new learning experiences in an environment of support and care.”
