Fourteen children's carnival troupes are preparing to start in a few weeks to bring color and joy to a unique carnival in the whole country, the Carnaval de los Pequeños Duendes. Popular, supportive, and inclusive, this festival is the breeding ground for the Concordia Carnival; many of the main figures who delight audiences at the Corsódromo have passed through it. And for the child who participates, it is a unique experience they will never forget. The first parade will be on Sunday, January 14th, at the Costanera.
Organized by the Carnival Entity of the Municipality of Concordia together with the Conased Foundation, today the Pequeños Duendes is part of the municipal State policies promoted by the mayor Enrique Cresto, where not only are moments of joy and fun brought to the children, but they are also instances that allow for educational and nutritional monitoring of each participant.
"In the rehearsals, you can already feel the children's excitement about being part of the Carnival this year; the work team and the friendship generated unite us, making us a family," said Sonia Albornos, Coordinator of Neighborhood Workshops and Cultural Events of the municipality and general coordinator of the organization of Los Pequeños Duendes. "For the children, it represents the possibility of being part of the festival that is the carnival, but at the same time, the mayor Cresto ordered that extensive work be carried out, which includes support, control, and accompaniment for each of these children," she added.
Around 70 children participate in each troupe, receiving dance and percussion classes. They bring joy, color, rhythm, and a lot of creativity to the summer festival. Children from 4 to 14 years old participate in Los Pequeños Duendes, representing their own neighborhoods in the different troupes, receiving full support from their parents, friends, and residents.
The troupes that will be part of the 2018 Carnaval de Los Pequeños Duendes are: Favela do Samba, Zamba Ará, ADUC, Irupé, Fantasía Carnavalera, Maravillas del Sur, Capullito, Su Comparsita, Los Principitos, Arco Iris, Los Peques de Camba Paso, Arami, Atrapando Sueños and Los Cabezones y sus Amigos. In addition, in this edition, they have the advice and guidance in workshops and classes from Comparsa Unisur.
