Through the Municipal Assistance and Rehabilitation Program (PROMAR), an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals provides assistance, support, and care to people with disabilities.
The PROMAR building is located at 25 de mayo street 928. It operates as a comprehensive rehabilitation center with specialists in speech therapy, kinesiology, psychology, occupational therapy, hydrotherapy, psychomotricity, and physical education teachers.
Currently, within the framework of the inclusive public policies promoted by the administration of Mayor Enrique Cresto, PROMAR provides daily care services starting at seven in the morning, with a team of 20 professionals and collaborators. They assist patients with disabilities who do not have health insurance (as a priority). “There are more than 50 patients daily who carry out their treatment with the specialists,” indicated the institution regarding this matter.
In this regard, the Director of Disability, Marcelo Primitivo, valued the policies developed by mayor Cresto through the Secretariat of Health. "All public policies must have the concept of inclusion. That is why in this administration we work on projects and programs that guarantee an improvement in the quality of life for people with disabilities," he pointed out.
For his part, Alejandro Sarrasqueta (kinesiologist) and coordinator of the PROMAR professional area commented that “the work carried out with the patients is done as a team, in support and in the human aspect, both with the patient and the family nucleus, beyond the therapeutic,” he highlighted.
“We have a great human work group. It does not matter if we have to stay after hours, if a mother sends us a message on a Saturday or Sunday. We are committed to each case and we try to solve every problem as long as it is within our reach. We love the work we do,” he added.
In addition, he commented on the logistics process when entering the establishment and explained that “the patient arrives with a referral from the doctor who is the one who indicates the therapy that must be performed. If we believe that it is another therapy, an interconsultation is done. Always with a doctor's referral.” And he said that regarding the work aspect “there are moments that are intense due to the quality and pathology of the patients but it is also satisfying when progress and evolution are seen,” he valued.
“This space is unique in the province and that was achieved due to the great work behind it. Not only patients from Concordia are treated but also from Chajarí, Federal, General Campos, La Criolla, Estancia Grande, among other localities,” detailed Sarrasqueta.
In tune, kinesiologist Roxana Jacob stated that “here at PROMAR we carry out interdisciplinary work, we have many areas and we are in contact with the professionals according to the pathology of each patient. Here they are received, they have an interview with the psychologist, all their data is taken, they are advised if they do not have the Unique Disability Certificate (CUD), then automatically they are given entry to rehabilitation and treatment,” she specified.
“Children and adults of different ages attend. The truth is that I have been working in this place for many years, I love it. PROMAR means a lot in my personal life. I like what I do day by day to learn something new. The patient tells you about their life, their problems, their needs, their achievements, their dreams. We are a big family,” expressed Jacob.
Finally, the Director of Disability reflected on the enormous challenges ahead and revealed that "educational, social, and labor inclusion are challenges that must be faced and for which Concordia is working with public policies transversally throughout the State. We have the permanent support of our Mayor and that is important for us to move forward,” he concluded.
