The Decentralized Sanitary Works Entity (EDOS) continues with preventive maintenance work on the city's water network, with the goal of reaching the summer season (the period of highest liquid consumption) with a more optimized service. In this regard, sanitization and preventive maintenance were carried out on the Plant's 10-million-liter water reserve cistern.
"It is an essential task to take care of the water quality of the network, because the water is stored here already purified to be subsequently sent to the entire city," noted the Director of EDOS, Juan José Grigolato, regarding this. "This cistern, once the work on the New Water Plant is completed, will become an integral part of it together with module B," the official pointed out. "We carry out these works within the framework of the policies of mayor Enrique Cresto to continuously improve the service provided to citizens," he added.
The cistern was emptied for cleaning and disinfection, which reduced the pumping supply to the city by approximately 30%, allowing the work to be carried out without causing inconvenience in homes. 16 people were dedicated to the cleaning and disinfection of the 10,000 cubic meter storage, requiring about 72 hours of work.
The work of emptying the reserve began on September 26, the actual cleaning was carried out on the 27th, and during the day of September 28, the level of the drinking water reserves and pressure in the distribution network were recovered.
The cleaning work, which requires a greater amount of labor, was carried out from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 27th, while the remaining emptying and filling tasks require planning, coordination, and careful manipulation of valves so as not to significantly affect the provision of the service.
