The Transit Center recalled that within the framework of the Contingency Plan ordered by mayor Alfredo Francolini in response to the global coronavirus pandemic, an online appointment system was implemented to obtain or renew a Driver's License, in order to avoid crowds of people, while the Deliberative Council determined that it is not mandatory for those over 60 years of age to renew their license until March 31.
"By order of the Mayor Alfredo Francolini and the Secretary of Management Coordination Fernando Barboza, at the beginning of the health emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic, a system was implemented so that residents can schedule an appointment for the renewal of their Driver's License online, and it is a modality that is here to stay because it is a benefit for residents and allows for better work organization at the Traffic Center," commented the area director, Walter Baez, regarding the matter.
"This allows us to provide better service to the user, both for renewals and for those obtaining their License for the first time," added Baez. "Today it is important because the resident, having their appointment at the stipulated time, comes precisely at that moment. Up to a maximum of three people can enter the building at a time, due to Protocol issues, which is why we also ask those who come to carry out another procedure or inquiry and have to wait, to understand this situation and wait outside while respecting social distancing and all preventive measures, because the pandemic has not yet passed," the official insisted.
At the same time, the director of the Traffic Center recalled that "the Deliberative Council established that until March 31, all people over 60 years of age are not required to renew their License, precisely due to the health emergency and to minimize the risks they may face. This exception is only for those over 60 years of age; the rest of the users must have their License updated."
