The Deliberative Council of Concordia held its 24th Ordinary Session this Thursday, a productive day that included the processing of 28 administrative case files, the ratification of a controversial decision, and the approval of projects of great cultural and technological impact for the city. The session, presided over by the vice mayor Lic. Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, was attended by twelve of its members. The only justified absence was that of councilor Javier Aguilar.
A supplier is ratified outside the municipal registry
The president of the Deliberative Council highlighted that a request for reconsideration was unanimously rejected from the firms Ahora Voy S.R.L. and Partarrié Distribuciones SAS, which had been removed from the list of municipal suppliers. This means that the company will not be able to participate in any bidding process or offer products to the municipality.
The decision to keep the firm off the registry of suppliers is due to a judicial case against it, related to the province's school canteens. The measure will be provisional until the justice system issues a verdict. In case of acquittal, the company could be reinstated; if convicted, its exclusion will be definitive.
Regional collaboration and debates on national policies
Vice mayor Reta de Urquiza reported on a recent meeting with councilor Sastre and the new council members from the Salto department, Uruguay, with the aim of initiating collaboration on issues of common interest. Among the points addressed, the intention to boost the use of the airports of Concordia and Salto was highlighted. It was agreed to create working commissions to advance joint proposals.
DRAFT RESOLUTIONS
One of the most debated points of the day was the rejection of the appeal filed by the firms Ahora Voy S.R.L. and Partarrié Distribuciones SAS. Both companies seek to reverse the suspension from the municipal registry of suppliers. Councilor Felipe Sastre (JxER) and council member Claudia Villalba (Mas para Entre Ríos-PJ) expressed their firm rejection of the reconsideration.
Villalba described the appeal as "shameful" and "unheard of," while Sastre maintained that it was of "supreme audacity" for a company charged by the justice system to dare to file an appeal before the Council. The suspension will remain in effect until the justice system rules on the case investigating the firm for its alleged involvement in a school canteen case in the province.
Culture, Education and Technology
Councilor Silvina Ovelar was a protagonist of the day by presenting two projects that were approved unanimously. One of them declares of municipal and cultural interest the presentation of the theatrical play "El Amateur, segunda vuelta". The resolution underlines the value of the play, starring Mauricio Dayub and Gustavo Luppi, and directed by Luis "Indio" Romero, recognizing it as an event that enriches the cultural offer and promotes tourism.
Ovelar's second project declares of municipal, educational and technological interest the event ConerTech 2025, which will take place on September 25th. The Council highlighted the importance of this platform to foster development in these sectors, considering them fundamental pillars for the future of the city and the region.
Tributes
In the session, there was also space to debate national agenda issues. The council members expressed their position on the Chamber of Deputies' rejection of the presidential veto of the University Financing Law and the Pediatric Emergency Law for the Garrahan Hospital, highlighting the support of the citizenry in the country, "the people marked history again," highlighted Satalía Méndez. While the majority celebrated the decision, council member Yaiza Pessolani Bechet (LLA) argued that the veto "is not against the public university, it is against the functioning of the system".
Within the framework of Teacher's Day, commemorated on September 17th, the legislative body paid an emotional tribute to the teaching profession. In a special gesture, recognition was given to councilors Silvina Ovelar, Guillermo Rey y Felipe Sastre, who also practice the profession. This recognition highlighted the importance of education in society and the vocation of those who carry it out.
Finally, the council members celebrated the reopening and commissioning of the Pierrastegui Airport of Concordia. In their speeches, several councilors provided a chronology of the events and key figures who contributed to the restructuring of this important work. The reopening was pointed out as a crucial milestone for the economic and tourist development of the region, highlighting its potential to connect the city and boost its growth.
