"We extended this invitation to the mayor and vice-mayor to participate in the comparsa's drum section," said the president of Bella Samba, Leonardo Contavalle. The comparsa met with Enrique Cresto and Armando Gay, and extended the invitation for this Saturday, January 28, to join the parade in the Corsódromo track.
"We saw in the city's highest authorities an interest and a commitment to the growth of the Carnival, and we thought it was a good gesture to invite them to be part of our comparsa this Saturday," said Contavalle, who was accompanied by the directors of the Bella Samba drum section. The vice-mayor "Armando Gay, who has several years of having participated in the drum section, will be accompanying it together with the director," the carnival leader anticipated, "and Enrique Cresto will be a percussionist, he will be playing the repique," he announced. From the impromptu meeting participated the executive president of Emcontur Martín Buraglia and the president of the Carnival Entity Matías Soto, together with the Secretary of Communication and Cultural Development Luis Santana. On the occasion, the leaders of the comparsa formalized the invitation, and both the Mayor and the Vice-mayor confirmed their presence this Saturday at the Municipal Corsódromo track.
"It is a very generous invitation," thanked the Vice-mayor and President of the Deliberative Council. "There is a decision by this municipal administration to strongly support the Carnival so that it continues to grow. The Mayor has clear policies where the cultural and artistic aspects have a preponderant place in the administration, and the carnival a preponderant place in the summer calendar," highlighted Armando Gay. And he assured that "for us it is an honor" the invitation received: "we are going to participate and have fun," he said.
"Beyond the institutional aspect, as residents of Concordia we live the Carnival"
Mayor Enrique Cresto thanked "the entire comparsa, its president and all those who are part of it" for the invitation received, and assured that "our presence, beyond the institutional aspect, is due to the fact that we are citizens of Concordia and like everyone else we live this popular festival with joy".
"The Carnival of Concordia is the most important artistic, tourist and cultural event of the summer, and it is an event that has no ceiling," expressed Cresto. "A carnival that was practically privatized and that went through very difficult times, today is recovered by the municipality of Concordia. The works we are doing, the promotion at a national level, the work that is projected, together with the consolidation of the Carnival of the Little Goblins as the popular carnival of inclusion in which all neighborhoods are integrated, show a city that has everything to be at the level of the national capital of carnival, and that is what we are working for," stressed the municipal president.
"Now I am going to start rehearsing to be up to the task and so that the comparsa does not lose its rhythm," joked Cresto at the end of the interview.
