In the “Federico Zorraquín” chamber, the local legislative body addressed a busy agenda that included the recognition of cultural and sporting events, with a special emphasis on the city's entrepreneurial spirit.
Under the presidency of the vice-mayor, Lic. Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, and with the attendance of twelve council members, the seventh ordinary session of the year was held this Thursday. The day was notable not only for the legislative proceedings but also for its institutional character, as it received a visit from students and teachers of 6th year of the "Cabildo Abierto" School, who witnessed the debate within the framework of the civic education programs promoted by the Council.
At the close of the meeting, Reta de Urquiza made a positive assessment of the day, reporting the entry of 23 administrative case files and highlighting the enactment of an Ordinance sent by the Municipal Executive for the signing of new strategic agreements, placing special emphasis on the care of municipal coffers.
Resource management and administrative efficiency
"One of the central points of this session was the authorization for the Municipal Executive to sign an out-of-court agreement within the framework of a judicial process where interest on construction payments was being claimed. This is a strategic decision, as it will allow for very significant savings for the municipality; we understand that the continuation of the litigation would be much more costly for the public treasury than this agreement", explained the Vice-mayor.
Promotion of culture, sports, and education
During the session, the council members gave the green light to various Resolution projects that seek to boost local activities:
Tribute to the engine of the local economy: The Entrepreneur
During the tribute segment, and coinciding with the international calendar, council member Silvina Ovelar (JxER) took the floor to commemorate World Entrepreneurship Day.
"It is essential to make innovation visible as an engine of economic development, especially in times of crisis. Today we recognize those who dare to start their businesses, generating genuine employment and fostering local talent in our region", expressed and concluded Ovelar.
