The Carnival Entity continues to plan a new edition of the greatest summer festival, an event that has cultural and tourist significance for the city. In this sense, and while a new edition of the ExpoCarnaval symposium is being planned to take place in the month of November and the promotions carried out together with the Secretariat of Tourism and Emcontur continue, an extra contribution was made to the carnival groups, resulting from the surplus yielded by the last edition.
“We have set the bar very high, because the Carnival has grown a lot, both artistically and in the organization of the event,” noted councilman Sebastián Cuberli, president of the Permanent Carnival Entity (EPC) upon assuming his position, weeks ago. “Since the Mayor Enrique Cresto decided to form the Carnival Entity, year after year there have been very important advances in organization, which allow us today to project the festival much further,” highlighted the head of the EPC.
For example, he continued, “one of the highlights is the implementation of the online ticket sales system that has been improved in each edition and that for 2019 will incorporate new improvements, which arise from the experience itself. This positions the event at a national level in terms of tourism, and that is the challenge that those of us who love this festival have.”
It should be noted that while specific aspects of what will be a new edition continue to be defined, and ending the month of August, the Entity delivered to the major carnival groups, that is to say Imperio, Emperatriz, Ráfaga and Bella Samba, a contribution of 50 thousand pesos to each one, resulting from the surplus that the 2018 edition yielded.
“The organizational balance of the 2018 edition is very satisfactory, the result of very serious work carried out by the previous commission chaired by Matías Soto. And existing the possibility of a surplus, the Carnival Entity considered that that money should be poured into those who are the true protagonists, the carnival groups. That is why we met, analyzed the situation, consulted Matías (Soto) because of the experience he has and also the Mayor. It is a contribution of 50 thousand pesos to each one, which is not an advance for 2019, but the result of the organizational growth of the last edition,” he commented. “It is an important help, more so in the current economic situation. We understand that it will help each institution to better prepare for the upcoming parades,” valued Cuberli.
Finally, the head of the Carnival Entity highlighted the importance that the festival has for the development of the city. “It is a very important social and cultural event, rooted in our culture, of which hundreds of families are a part. And it is also an activity that contributes to boosting the local economy, which has great tourist potential. From the Entity we are working with those premises, which is what (the mayor) Enrique Cresto asked us, so that it continues to grow and consolidate because Concordia is Carnival”, he concluded.
